The Persian Garden

In a new development called Pacific Highlands Ranch we were asked to create a modern garden with strong Persian influences.

Persian gardens are some of the oldest in the world. While I’ve never been to Iran, I have been to Morrocco and to multiple gardens in Spain and France and Italy. The gardens of Spain have a huge Moorish influence. I referenced photos from my trips to places like Le Jardin Marjorelle, and Alhambra to inform the design.

The couple wanted a sophisticated take on a Persian garden. We used Arto concrete tiles and beautiful blue tiles to echo this style. The garden is very formulaic and structured. We used Citrus, and several other flowering Mediterranean plants to complete the look.
