Bhangoo
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
New construction homes often run the risk of feeling sterile—too crisp, too raw, too detached from their environment. The Bhangoo Residence presented exactly that challenge. Set in a newly developed neighborhood in San Diego, this home needed more than just curb appeal; it needed soul. Our goal was to ground the property, soften the edges, and craft a space that felt warm, personal, and lived-in from day one.
We used a palette of natural materials—hand-selected boulders, textured stone, cedar, and water-wise plantings—to create a modern Mediterranean atmosphere. A sculptural water wall finished in irregular-cut stone and framed by olive trees brings life and movement to the pool area. Powder-coated steel scuppers provide a crisp modern counterpoint to the organic forms.
Concrete slab paths with gravel joints guide the visitor through layered beds of rosemary, juncus, lomandra, and dwarf olives. We intentionally mixed fine and coarse textures to create depth and a relaxed sense of rhythm. The hardscape is quietly refined—oversized slabs and formed concrete benches contrast with warm wood fencing and a fire bowl set in gravel.
