This, one of a kind shot, taken by Brett Hilton, caused the project to take home the First Place Overall award from the LandFX 2019 Photo-contest. We believe the materials, colors, and lighting that are all at play in this image, lent to it’s eye-catching character.

Can you believe that February is next week! Seriously where has this year gone. Falling Waters just completed one of our most eventful, successful, and busiest years yet. Different organizations have recognized us for our unique, innovative, and successful projects. These honorable mentions gave us the opportunity to take a step back and look at the great work that we were involved in last year.

Some of these awards include:

2019 LandFX Photo Contest - First place overall for Edinburg Residence (https://www.landfx.com/news/news-items/item/5330-2019-photo-contest-winners.html)

Highlighted in the post, “The Modern Tropics of Socal,” the Edinburg project was an artistic masterpiece that photographed very well. The lines, composition, and colors led to having this project win the 2019 LandFX Photo Contest.

Side note: if you haven’t heard of LandFX it is a computer program that we use to help input a design and manufacture all the details and plans needed for our team to construct the project. LandFX loves to see how companies around America have been using their program to better the world we live in. so they recognize a few through this contest. We are honored to have won.

2019 APLD Design Awards - The Gold & Silver Award for our Estelle and Basil projects (https://www.apld.org/design-awards/)

Another organization, the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, also has a yearly contest to recognize the amazing work that is being created around the world. Their APLD International Landscape Design Awards Program honors excellence in Landscape Design. Through eight different categories they appreciate the craftsmanship of the profession. Here at Falling Waters Landscape we took home the APLD 2019 Gold Award for Residential Design with our Estelle Residence and the 2019 Silver Award for Specialty Projects for our Basil St. Project. These projects were two of our favorites and we are glad that the profession appreciated them as well.

Our Estelle Project in Newport Beach won the Gold award for Residential Design. We think the plant palette and natural material selection caused it to stand out from the rest.

Basil Street was a very unique project, it won in the Silver in the Specialty Projects category because it addressed storm water management. Some parts of San Diego flood during our rain season. This house in particular got hit year after year. Through sustainable practices we were able to lift the exterior living space and create a network of basin and water catchment systems to grab the water and force it down into the sub-grade instead of through and in to the house.

2019 CLCA Beautification Awards - President’s Award for Belt & Commercial Construction Award for Oberlin (https://www.clcasandiego.org/beautification-awards)

This last contest was probably the largest of the three. The CLCA San Diego Chapter, California Landscape Contractors Association, puts on an awards show every year to recognize the work that continues to expand and beautify the San Diego area. We were honored to attend the event and be recognized for two of our projects. Oberlin one of our few public works projects, went home with the Commercial Construction award, while a newly completely Belt Residence took home the President’s Award.

One of our newly completed residential projects, Belt, was just able to make it into the entry for the CLCA Residential Award. We are so glad that we snuck it in and that it was recognized for its innovative character.

We had the unique opportunity to work on a corporate office. With our background in Residential and Water Feature design we were able to bring our skillset to a public building and make it pop in the sea of grey surrounding it.

We are so honored to have been recognized for five of our projects. However; this attention only motivates us more. We hope this year is no different, we plan on designing and building some of the most interesting and exciting projects yet. Stay tuned!
