Nicole's Garden

Natural stone and a textured glaze tile soften this multi-level pool. A cold plunge sits at the top, a spa takes its place in the middle next to the firepit, and the pool anchors everything at the bottom. Working with the sloping backyard, water travels down a long linear rill and spills from one space to another. Nature’s elements of water, stone, and plants ground the pool and tie it together. A Mediterranean plant scheme compliments the timeless materials

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

• Biggest Challenge to Overcome: Integrating a phase 2 where the materials and “vibe” were very different from a phase 1

• Core Design Solution: Distinct spaces that don’t share the viewers gaze have their own materials. The eclectic palette somehow works.

• Materials and Plant Palette Highlights: Limestone and New California clay tile from Cle play nicely together. Grapestake fencing and green ficus

• Custom Features: a custom cold plunge only appears to spill into the pool. In reality it is fully contained

• The space has turned a lackluster slope into a fully usable extension of the home. Parties are had, cannonball challenges are accepted, dad jokes abound
