Location: Leucadia, CA.
Located in an area prone to flooding, this modest home west of the 101 in Leucadia was in serious need of updates. The home needed defined entertaining spaces, privacy, new fencing and updates to the doors and windows. We brought in our good friends at Delta Home Improvement Specialists to help on the house and FWLI was tasked with a complete overhaul of the entire landscape.
We worked closely with the Owner and with the team at catchingH20.com to integrate 2 rainwater catchment systems in to the landscape. We lifted the usable spaces and lowered the landscape throughout the property to eliminate the possibility of water damage. We added underground seepage pits disguised as dry stream beds, swales under the decking, earth berms and pervious paving.
Additional office space was integrated into the raised concrete deck. Boulders weighing in at several tons were sited specifically to make the landscape feel as if it was rising from the ground.
Natives and naturalized plants were used throughout the landscape. Other materials of note: Cedar timbers, river rock, cedar decking, seeded-aggregate paving, cobblestone columns, Aurora lights, recirculating pondless waterfall.
